This skillshare, the fourth event in our New Guard Leather Educational Series, is presented by Boi Alex, a local Bootblack with significant experience in their craft. Boi Alex has chosen Transgender Victoria (TGV) as the charity to receive all funds raised from this event.

Introduction to Bootblacking and Leathercare

You may have seen or have heard of the Bootblack in a Leather Bar or at a kink event, working away on the boots of somebody seated in a chair. You may have also heard about the owner of those boots walking away from the chair having a similar feeling of leaving a barbershop with a fresh look.

Bootblacking is more than just looking after Leather.  Its an experience that can be enjoyed in solitary or shared with others.

This will be an interactive class that aims to introduce the basic knowledge of Bootblacking and Leather Care; cleaning, conditioning, polishing. This particular set of skills will firstly provide the ability to look after one's own leathers and boots and beyond that are relevant to service in the context of a Power Exchange relationship, and service to others in the community.

This class is open to all skill levels of kinkster/bootblack.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a pair of leather boots or other leather garments (ie vests, jackets, chaps etc.).

Presented by Boi Alex:

Boi Alex is a Bootblack, trained by their Master, and with prior Bootblacking experience totalling almost 15 years.

They enjoy serving the community and have done so in a variety of ways. They were the House Bootblack at the Splinter Dungeon in Melbourne, first runner-up in the inaugural Australian Mr Bootblack 2017 contest (AMBB) and was a handler for Australian Mr Bootblack (AMBB) 2017, Rhys, at the 25th International Mr Bootblack contest in Chicago.
